BTW - not sure if you're aware, but on some of the Coogy strips you might notice a dark horizontal line between the first and second row of panels. That's old adhesive marks where the top was detached and later put back on. Some newspapers would only buy "one-third of a page". In general, on a single page of newspaper you can fit 3 two-row comic strips or 2 three-row strips. So, the syndicate would lop off the first row and just sell the bottom two to those who only wanted it that way.
